Barbara Beck, Managing Director, New York

Barbara has completed hundreds of real estate searches across geographic regions, functions and property sectors. Prior to joining Equinox as a Partner in 2001, she spent 8 years as a Principal at Rhodes Associates, a retained executive search firm focused on real estate. Earlier in her career she worked in financial services. As a Vice President at Mutual of New York she was a member of the Investment Management Group where she helped the Equities, Fixed Income and Real Estate businesses align talent management initiatives with the strategic goals of the organization. She played a similar role as a VP at Bankers Trust Company where she worked with the Institutional Investment Management, International, and Domestic Private banking businesses. She began her career at the Northern Trust Bank in Chicago.

Barbara has a BA from Hood College, an MA in Educational Psychology from Northwestern University; and an MBA from New York University Stern School of Business.

She enjoys running (completed 9 marathons at a leisurely pace), cycling (especially inn-to-inn in France with her family) and the abundance of New York’s performing and visual arts offerings.
